Over the past few years, a number of practising artists and craftsmen, several of them professional, have settled in Southwest Zealand.
Its beautiful location by the long, often untouched, stretches of coast and the bright light may help to explain why so many have chosen this area in particular; several of the artists use the sea and the light as inspiration in their art.

Artists, craftsmen and galleries The range of form of expression and style of the artists of Southwest Zealand is manifold. There are artists who work with installation art, ceramics, patchwork, woodcarving, basketry, painting and much more besides. Many of the area’s artists work and exhibit from their own workshops and studios, many of which are open to the public. Many also hold courses in graphics, patchwork and ceramics, etc.
There are also many galleries and culture centres that sell their own work and that of others in Southwest Zealand.
