Skælskør

Skælskør has one of Denmark’s most idyllic old urban environments with half-timbered houses and cobblestone courtyards

Writer Hans Christian Andersen discovered, as far back as 200 years ago, that Skælskør and its surrounding area have a lot to offer.

There are few places in Denmark where you will find as wonderful a fjord cruise as the 7 km long trip from the harbour in the center of Skælskør. There is always a wide range of fish on scale at the fishmonger's; that's if you don't choose to catch dinner yourself, of course. Why not stop and take in the details of the town's beautifully and painstakingly restored old buildings?

If you follow the Margueritrute (The Daisy Route), you will come to the coastal village of Bisserup. We recommend that you park the car and wxplore the village on foot. It needs to be enjoyed slowly" Go for a walk along the beach, past the campsite and the many holiday homes, and enjoy an ice cream at the harbour where fishing dinghies and pleasure craft are moored side-by-side.  Read Bisserup's tourist brochure

Visit the castles and manor houses of Skælskør and its surrounding. The grounds of Holsteinborg and Borreby are open to guests during the summer months, and there are guided tours at Holsteinborg.
Along the way, pay a visit to Glænø and enjoy its lovely, peaceful nature.

Enjoy a delightful fjord cruise on the Skjelskoer V excursion boat. In the summer there several cruises, some with music. Check at the local tourist office.

Activities for children all summer.

There are a lot of summer activities on Algade every Saturday morning during the summer; Saturday jazz at Restaurant Solsikken, delightful quality shops, childrens popinjay shooting, Cultural People's Festival, films at the cosy cinema Kosmorama and much more ...
